An unforeseen show of emotion, music and love towards the motherland.

“My Golden Bengal, I love you” – the National Anthem of Bangladesh – is going to achieve the ‘Guinness Book of World Records’ in this month of victory as the heroic children of this nation won the victory and got an independent and sovereign state ‘People’s Republic of Bangladesh’ on December 16, 1971.
Bangladesh has made Guinness World Record by singing the national anthem [Jatio Songeet] by more than 3,00,000 people at a time. The previous record was set by India by 1,21,653 people at Lakhnow. Bangladesh beat India by a large margin.
More than 3,00,000 people sang the melodious song by Ravindranath Tagore, “Amar Sonar Bangla, Ami Tomay Bhalobashi”. At that moment, whole Bangladesh was like a music heaven. Pakistani Military surrendared to Bangladesh on 16th December, 1971 at 4:31 p.m. That’s why we selected that moment on 16 December 2013 to sing this great song. Gonojagoron Moncho, the organization of Independent-loving youths arranged this event.
Not only the Bangladeshi people at home, but also people living abroad sang the anthem together at that time, watching the event live through television.
 The world's biggest national flag

Dhaka, December 16:
Tens of thousands of Bangladeshi volunteers Monday formed the world's biggest national flag in a bid to breach Guinness World Record.
27,117 volunteers from the Bangladesh Army, educational institutions and the general public stood up with red and green placards to form the national flag at Dhaka's National Parade Ground.
The placards, held above their heads, collectively depicted the Bangladeshi national flag.
The participants stood there for six minutes and 16 seconds, though the requirement for setting a new world record was five minutes.
The main objective of this event was not only to celebrate Bangladesh's Victory Day in its liberation war, which falls Monday, but also to show the world the inner strength and unity of the people of the nation.
Previously the largest human national flag was formed in Pakistan on Oct 21, 2012, with 24,200 participants attending the Punjab Youth Festival at the National Hockey Stadium in Lahore.
Bangladesh's third largest cell phone operator, Robi Axiata, in collaboration with the Bangladesh Army, organised the event in Dhaka parade ground.
After the successful completion of the incredible event, all the relevant documents and images is ready to sent to the Guinness World Record committee for validation.
A Guinness-accredited auditor was present to oversee the creation of the national human flag. (IANS)

Resolve the matter

we are hopeless regarding our politics and politician. In this situation, general people has liked non-party government. It is just a demand to avoid partyzan harrasment and to stay in peace. So why most of the people want caretaker government for long time. With this, so called civil society has mixed their intention and say – caretaker government needs for election. But then what?   Once BNP, then AL, then BNP……?  Is it a solution for our country? Is it peace?
With this, benefit will be gone always to civil society. And we will observe - Opposition will never go to perliament, they will blame caretaker government.  With this culture, it is possible to stay us always in hopeless  regarding our politics and politician. No demcracy will be set in the country. Politics and politician will be sick day by day. Third party, namely care taker for Electoral system after every five year can not be the origin solution for democracy. They are another one cream peaker who always wants to peak cream from the weakness of the politics. And so why they always want to put the politics in fire and underestimate the politician. But we should remember, it is never avoidable that the country will be ruled by politician. In this circumstances, it will be demanded to resolve the matter by politician under constitutional rule and practice. We should make pressure for democracy in every sector.

Obama Calls for Updated US Policy on Cuba

VOA News
U.S. President Barack Obama says it is time for the United States to revise its policies regarding Cuba.

Speaking in Miami Friday, Obama said it doesn't make sense that policies put in place more than 50 years ago would still be effective in the Internet age.

The president pointed out that Cuban leader Fidel Castro came into power in 1961, the same year Obama was born. The United States cut off diplomatic relations with Cuba that same year and imposed an economic embargo a year later.

The U.S. embargo against Cuba is controversial internationally. In October, the United Nations voted to condemn it for the 22nd time.

The Obama administration has engaged in recent discussions with the Cubans on migration and mail, and has relaxed travel and remittance rules for Cuban Americans.

Monir loses the battle

The 14-year-old school boy Monir, who sustained burn injuries when pickets set fire to his father’s covered van on Dhaka-Gazipur highway in Gazipur on the first day of the opposition’s 60-hour hartal, succumbed to his injuries early today.
Monir who sustained 95 percent burn injuries breathed his last around 4:30am at the intensive care unit of Burn and Plastic Surgery Unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital, doctor Samanto Lal Sen, who examined Monir at the burn unit, told The Daily Star.
Monir, who was elder of the two sons of Ramjan, had begged to his father, a covered van driver from Gazipur, to bring him to Dhaka and the father and son were on their way back when the arson took place on the highway on the fateful day Monday.
“This was his first time in the city,” said Ramjan Ali, the father.
Responding to Monir’s request, Ramjan had come to the capital along with his son for business on Saturday little knowing it that this one will be his final trip.
“It was 9:00am, and we were just a few kilometres away from home. Sensing trouble ahead, I parked my van and asked Monir to wait inside. I went out to check if it was safe to drive on,” the father told The Daily Star earlier.
The father then witnessed the dreadful incident of his life as the pickets set blaze to his van hurling a petrol bomb caring little that Monir was inside the lorry.
Locals and police pulled out the burning child and doused him with water. He was first whisked off to Tongi Hospital and then to DMCH.
Immediately after the incident, Ramjan did not tell his wife about their son’s fate though the DMCH sources said there was little hope for Monir’s survival.
But none had the heart to tell Ramjan that he should call his wife immediately if she were to see her son alive for one last time.
The ill-fated mother had previously lost two daughters, one in a road accident and the other during infancy.
Finally, Monir’s mother came to see him at the hospital last night. She screamed and fainted at the sight of him. She could not be revived for an hour and a half, but when she regained consciousness, she cried out for justice, family sources said earlier.
The mental state of the parents who had witnessed their son with entire body swollen and blackened beyond recognition and drifted in and out of consciousness at the hospital were not known immediately after the death of Monir.
